Mechanicsburg Professional Newborn Photographer – Tips For Getting Your Newborn To sleep

As a Mechanicsburg Professional Newborn Photographer, I know a few things about baby whispering! I can’t hold a tune to save my life or whip up a gourmet meal, but I sure can put a baby to sleep like a pro! After all, that is part of the job description, right?! As you can imagine, many of my clients are first time parents. First time parents who often offer me part time, middle of the night baby sitting jobs due to my baby whispering skills! Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing I love more than snuggling a newborn baby! However, this full time Mechanicsburg Professional Newborn Photographer gig keeps me super busy. So, I’m not really available for a side hustle at the moment! HA!

Newborn Photographer to save the day! Or Night.

Lucky for you, I am here to help by offering you some of my personal tips and tricks. Some may seem like “no brainers,” but let’s face it…pregnancy brain and new mom brain are a real thing. And that sometimes can make you feel like you lost your real one! Don’t worry. I think it returns sometime, but I can’t be certain since I still have regular bouts of mom brain and my baby is almost 14! We are in this mom thing together and we’ve got to help each other out. This is where my Mechanicsburg Professional Newborn Photographer Tips for getting your Newborn to Sleep come in!

Tips For Getting Your Newborn to Sleep – From a Mechanicsburg Professional Newborn Photographer

  • Shusher the Sleep Miracle – Sound Machine
  • baby-shusher-sleep-machine-in-newborn-photography-studio-camp-hill-pa
Baby Shusher Sleep Machine used in Mechanicsburg Newborn Photography Studio

Ok, so this one isn’t truly a tip or trick, but it’s definitely a MUST have little miracle machine. No professional newborn photographer can live without it, and no new parent should have to either! There is just no cell phone App that does the job just like the Baby Shusher. This little guy has even won awards such as: Mom’s Choice Award, Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA), OHbaby! 2018 Gold Award Winner, and BabyList’s 2019 Best Product Award. It uses a legit, real human voice to shush your baby right to sleep. It’s the next best thing to your own continuous shushing sounds, but that gets pretty tiring. And since you’re here I am guessing you might already be a little sleep deprived! Hop on Amazon right now and grab yourself one of these little machines and get yourself some sleep today! You’ll thank me later!

  • Two Words: THE SNUGGLE
  • The SNUGGLE is real around here, so the struggle is not! Yeah, I got jokes. Lame ones, but I guess that’s what happens when you work with tiny humans who can’t laugh at your dorky-ness yet! So, this is really just what it sounds like. Snuggle your baby tight. Pull his legs up to his abdomen and tuck his little arms in close while holding him. When my clients are here in the newborn studio holding their new babes I often notice their legs or arms stretched out or loose. It’s not something everyone notices or thinks about! One of the first suggestions I make is The Snuggle. Newborns love to have their limbs squeezed in tight against their little bodies (and yours!) since they just spent the last 9 months that way. It’s what they know best and will often drift right to sleep!

  • Third eye massage
  • Believe me, when my newborn clients don’t already know this trick it quickly becomes one the shove up their sleeve for later! There are great benefits to massaging the third eye. I very lightly rum my finger or thumb from the third eye position ( between your baby’s eyes) down the nose. Trust me. This works! It encourages baby to close his eyes and soon drifting off to a (hopefully!) restful sleep! Have pets? This works on animals too. Give it a try to practice if you’re still waiting on your babe to arrive!

  • Wrapping A.K.A. Swaddling
  • First, I’m pretty sure there is no newborn on planet earth who doesn’t like to be swaddled. Your baby just spent the last 9 months tightly packed in your belly. Being wrapped tightly in a swaddle is one of the most comforting and secure feelings to a newborn. Sometimes I will have a parent tell me during a newborn session that their baby doesn’t like to be swaddled. I say: CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! I’ve yet to find a newborn who doesn’t like to be properly swaddled. Seriously, If you need a solid lesson – call me. I will never turn down the opportunity to snuggle a newborn, whether you’re my client or not! I will happily show you the tricks of this swaddle trade!

  • Center Yourself
  • I know it’s tough when you’re lacking sleep and you have a newborn who wants to party all night, but stay calm. If I am not calm during a newborn photography session then my tiny client won’t be either. The same applies to you at home also. No matter how stressful that scream sounds or how emotional it makes you feel try your best to react calmly. Your baby can sense and feel your emotions. Deep breaths, mama.

  • A full belly = sleepy newborn
  • It may sound like a no brainer. But I know I am not happy when I’m HANGRY. And, a hungry baby won’t be able to sleep. A full belly is one of the number one keys to a happy, sleepy baby during a newborn session. Feed your baby until she releases on her own.

  • Cozy and warm
  • It is warm in the womb! That sauna is all your baby has known for 9 long months. It probably feels a little chilly compared to those tropical-like temps! Newborns are sensitive to cold temps. This is why your baby likely cries when you change his diaper. He is just simply cold. I keep my studio at about 80 degrees during newborn sessions. No, you don’t have to crank your thermostat that high, but be cautious temps dropping too low for baby’s comfort!

    If all else fails…

Ask for help! Now, I’m certainly hoping these few tips are helpful in getting you and your newborn on your way to a couple winks of sleep. However, ALWAYS trust your gut! Your mom or dad instinct is almost always on point. If something feels off and your baby just doesn’t seem to settle please do not hesitate to call your pediatrician! It’s possible there are underlying reasons why your baby won’t settle and these little tips are not meant to get you through it all. Your doctor is always a quick phone call away and is there to help you along this new parent journey. No question or concern is too silly. Trust those instincts. God gave you them for a reason!

Choosing the best newborn photographer near Camp Hill PA

Choosing the best newborn photographer near Camp Hill PA may be one of the most important decisions you make when expecting a new baby! There are a few key factors that you may want to think about when deciding on something so very important! Are you patiently awaiting a new baby in the coming months? Have you just welcomed a precious newborn into the world? Your baby will only be a tiny newborn for such a very short time. Capturing these special new moments through professional newborn photography is likely on your mind! While price can often be a factor for many people when choosing a newborn photographer, it most certainly shouldn’t be your only deciding factor. Here you can find some great tips for choosing the best Camp Hill newborn photographer.

Camp Hill Newborn Photographer SAFETY trained.

The safety of your baby should be your number one priority when choosing the best photographer to capture these sweet, delicate moments. Almost every expecting parent does a ton of research when it comes to selecting safe products and services such as bottles, car seats, cribs and child care providers. You will want to use this same standard of care when it comes to choosing your newborn photographer. You’ll want to know that the photographer who is handling and posing your sweet baby has the training necessary to pose your baby safely. A few things to ask your potential newborn photographer…

    1. Does the photographer have in-person newborn photography training?
    2. How long has the photographer been posing newborns?
    3. What is the studio sick policy?
    4. What are the studio cleaning practices?
    5. Is the photographer insured?
    6. Are there any additional precautions being taken?

I personally prioritize the safety of your baby above all else. There is absolutely nothing more important to me than keeping your precious little love safe during his or her newborn session. I have nearly 14 years experience working with newborn babies and have invested thousands of dollars in training workshops. I am constantly learning and perfecting my skill level and craft.

    Specializing in Posed Newborn Photography.

When choosing the best newborn photographer near Camp Hill PA you will most certainly want to know that handling newborns is their area of expertise. Therefore, you’ll want to make sure that posing newborn babies is what your photographer specializes in. Professional newborn photographers should have the very specific and specialized training that is necessary when handling and posing tiny babies. An experienced newborn photographer will know how to sooth, position and pose your baby in the safest way. There are many genres of photography. Just because someone owns a camera and calls themselves a photographer does not mean they have the specialized training necessary to photograph a newborn. Quite like you would not seek the care of a cardiologist to deliver your baby even though they are both doctors – you likely won’t seek a wedding photographer or a family friend with a nice camera to photograph your baby.

    The Location and Style

Each and every professional newborn photographer will have their very own special, unique style. Your newborn’s portraits will be something you have to look back on to remember and cherish for your entire lifetime. Therefore, it’s very important to choose a photographer with a style and images that tug at your heart strings. These images of your baby will be on display on your walls for many years to come, so be sure to select a photographer with a style that you love! I specialize in posed newborn photography and enjoy turning images of your most precious creation into works of art.

How far is the photographer’s studio located from your home? If you’re located in Central PA and looking for studio newborn photography near Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg or Camp Hill then my cozy newborn studio is just a short car ride away.

Investment and Artwork. “Full Service” vs “All-Inclusive” Newborn Photography

Newborn photography prices are based on a variety of factors such as the photographer’s experience and training, the quality of their work, the amount of time they spend working with each client throughout their portrait process, a customized-full service experience vs. a generic all- inclusive, product offering and quality, and design services offered.

I am a custom, full service newborn photographer. My focus is on a quality experience and product. I walk my clients through the entire portrait process from start to finish. From our initial phone conversation, through consultation, newborn photo session, ordering appointment and the delivery of your portrait art. I put great time, love and care into your newborn photography experience. It is my belief that any great product or service takes time when done well. I spend about 40 hours with each client from start to finish, making sure each of them receive exceptional quality and care, and a product that will help you remember your baby as a newborn, forever.

You can find newborn photography priced anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, depending on the photographer and type of service they offer. A client of mine can typically expect to invest an amount between $2000 and $10,000 (although some spend a bit more or less) on a variety of portrait art such as beautiful framed prints, Italian wall art, heirloom albums, and keepsake folio display cases.

Professional newborn photography is an incredible luxury and a worthwhile investment in this wonderful time in your life! Your baby will only be so tiny for such a short time.

Newborn Photography in Camp Hill | Wyatt

Specializing in Newborn Photography in Camp Hill is an honor! My clients come to me with trust. I believe that is the foundation behind what I do as a newborn portrait photographer. Handing your precious little new baby over to anyone requires a ton of trust. My clients trusting me to capture images of their most important milestone in life, but above all else, they’re trusting me to keep their precious little baby safe. They trust me to guide them through this portrait process. To create images they will hold close to their hearts forever. The amount of trust a new parent places in who they chose to capture their newborn photography in Camp Hill is huge. It is not something I ever take for granted.

I hold the Smutz family close to my heart. There is no greater feeling than having clients trust me enough to return more than once. To bring not only their first precious newborn to me, but to return with baby number two! I first met this adorable couple in 2018 when they were looking for newborn photography in Camp Hill and expecting their first little guy, Ford. They told me all about him, his name, the special meaning behind how he got his name and how excited they were for his arrival. I knew he was so loved before he was even here. Fast forward to 2020 and they were just as excited to welcome Ford’s baby brother, Wyatt in the beginning of 2021! I was equally excited to see them all again and especially excited to meet the newest member of their family! I couldn’t wait to see Ford as a big bother!

Studio Newborn Photography in Camp Hill

Mom, Dad and Baby Wyatt came to my Camp Hill newborn photo studio within the first 10 days of Wyatt’s like for his first photo session. It’s amazing to see the ease in moms and dads of newborns the second time around! Laura and Joe were already pros by this session! In other words, they knew exactly what to expect and were much less sleep deprived than when Ford entered the world! Sleep deprived or not, a newborn photography session should be relaxed, laid back and stress free for new parents!

    Sibling Add-On Photography Session

The Smutz Family chose to do a Sibling Add-On Session in their home. A perfect way incorporate a very young (BIG) brother in their newborn photos! A Sibling Add On Session is additional lifestyle session that takes place in the clients home. A studio newborn session can make for a long day and toddlers need their space to run around! Therefore, a Sibling Add on Session is absolutely a perfect solution for incorporating young and toddler age siblings!

Booking your Camp Hill Newborn Photography Session

Are you expecting a newborn this year? If so, it’s best to contact me many months before your baby is due! I take a very limited number of newborn clients each month. This allows me to give my undivided attention to each and every client from the start of planning your session through delivery and installation of your wall portraits. Let’s set up a consultation and plan your most special photo session ever! Send me a message HERE to get in touch! You can expect a phone call from me, so please list the best time of day to reach you by phone! Then, we will set up a time for you to come into my Camp Hill newborn photography studio so that we can meet for a consultation. I believe you should always meet your photographer in person. After all, you’re going to be handing your most precious little love to this person! I can’t wait to work with you!

Best Mechanicsburg Newborn Photographer | Why are they so expensive?

You know you want the best Mechanicsburg Newborn Photographer to photograph your new baby. Every parent wants to have high-quality, professional photos of their newborn, but sometimes the cost can be a little daunting. I’ve often had people ask me why I charge the prices I do for my photography. After all, everyone has a decent camera on their phones these days, right? How hard is it to snap a few photos?

baby boy photographed by Best Mechanicsburg newborn, karissa zimmer photography

Hiring the best Mechanicsburg newborn photographer is an investment.

Hiring a professional photographer is an investment. You’re paying for so much more than “a few photos.” You’re paying for many years of continued education, experience and their unique talent and expertise. You wouldn’t pay just anyone to cut and style your hair or to fix your car, would you? Of course, you want someone who is knowledgeable and who can get the job done correctly and done well.

The same goes for photographers. While you want an experienced professional for any kind of photos you need, it’s especially important with newborn photography. Posed newborn photography requires training and knowledge on how to pose an infant safely. That’s not something you want to trust to an amateur! The wrong pose or a lack of care can actually hurt your child or even cause long-lasting damage, but a photographer certified in newborn posing can create adorable images while keeping your baby’s safety as their number one priority.

best mechanicsburg newborn photographer karissa zimmer photographed newborn baby boy

Like any product or service, you get what you pay for when you hire a photographer.

You’ve likely heard the phrase, “You get what you pay for.” If you opt for a “cheap” newborn photographer or a family friend who is just starting out, you likely won’t get the images you want. However, when you invest in a professional newborn photographer, you get so much for your money, including:

    • A professional studio space, accessories and props
    • Lighting expertise
    • Years of experience and knowledge
    • Safe, adorable poses
    • Professional, high-quality editing of your images
    • Quality wall art, albums and tangible products that will last forever

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A professional newborn photographer has likely gone through years of training, purchased expensive professional equipment and become certified in how to safely pose newborns. They have invested countless time and money in their business in order to provide you with a high-quality service and products. Running a successful, professional photography business costs a significant amount of money and is a full-time job for most photographers. And as a client and a parent, you want to work with someone who is focused on meeting your needs and creating images you will love and cherish forever.

A professional photographer is a storyteller. They capture the story of your family’s growth and love in a way you can visually see, freezing a moment in time and creating memories that your whole family will cherish.

While newborn photography may seem costly, it is an investment that will increase in value as the years go by. As your child grows into a toddler and a teenager and even an adult, you will have their newborn images—and hopefully other professional photos as well—to look back on to remind you where this unique and special journey began. That’s something you simply cannot put a price on.

Everything You Need to Know About a Newborn Session

Everything You Need to Know About a Newborn Session

When selecting a photographer, she will tell you everything you need to know about a newborn session! Every parent knows that kids grow up so fast. That’s why having photos of your children at every stage of their life is so important, especially when they’re newborns. Those images can help you remember years later just how small your little ones were.

As you’re getting ready to welcome a new addition to your family, take time to consider booking a newborn session to capture this amazing moment in your life. Not sure what a newborn photo shoot is like? That’s why I am here to help guide you through the process. I will teach you Everything You Need to Know About a Newborn Session!

new parents are photographed with newborn baby boy during posed newborn photography session with karissa zimmer photography

How old should my little one be for the photo session?

The best age for a newborn session is under two weeks, although I find the “sweet spot to be between days 7-10 of life. At that age, babies still spend a majority of their time sleeping and are easier to pose in those curled up positions everyone loves! When you’re scheduling your session, keep in mind that your newborn will grow VERY quickly and will look completely different at one month than they did at birth. As they grow, they’ll begin moving more. In those first few days they will be much more comfortable with posing, as well as less likely to remain asleep during the photo shoot.

newborn photographer karissa zimmer photographs new father with baby boy at his newborn photography session in camp hill pa

When should I book my session?

The earlier you can book your newborn session, the better! I recommend having your session reserved before the third trimester approaches if possible. Session times fill up fast, and since you only have a limited window of time in which to get the photos taken before baby gets too big, you want to be sure that your photographer is available.

everything you need to know about a newborn photography session in camp hill pa

What if my baby arrives earlier than expected?

Every newborn photographer knows that babies arrive when they’re ready. With that in mind, I book a very limited number of newborn sessions each month. This allows me to be flexible with early or late newborn arrivals. Once your session has been booked and reserved during your consultation, I will hold time around your scheduled session to make sure you and your little one get in for your photos.

How long does a newborn session last?

Typically, a newborn photo shoot lasts several hours. If that sounds long, have no fear—you won’t be in front of the camera the whole time! A majority of that time will be spent feeding and soothing your newborn for photos. Each and every baby is different. Therefore, each session will take a different length of time. There certainly is no rushing a newborn session!

new father is photographed during photo session with karissa zimmer photography

How should I dress my newborn for photos?

Most newborn photography involves nude and swaddle wrapped portraits of your little one—the better to capture those tiny fingers and toes and their precious soft skin! Dress your baby in clothes that are easy to take off and put back on and that are loose enough it won’t leave marks on their skin.

newborn photographer karissa zimmer photography captures image of newborn boy with parents

What should I bring to my newborn session?

This is one of the most common questions we hear, and that’s because it’s so important! You’ll want to bring your whole diaper bag, of course. That means pacifiers, extra diapers and wipes, and formula and bottles, if you formula-feed. I alway suggest that you’ll also want to bring a change of clothes for yourself because posing in photos with a naked baby can lead to messiness! All props, wraps, bonnets and accessories are conveniently provided and coordinated for your baby’s session by yours truly!

Most importantly, ask me any questions you have about your session. And don’t be nervous! It’s my job to help you feel comfortable and get the images you want of this precious moment in the life of your family!

When Should I book my Camp Hill Newborn Photographer?

When Should I book my Camp Hill Newborn Photographer?

When should I book my Camp Hill Newborn Photographer? This is a common question on the minds of many moms-to be early on in pregnancy! To be completely honest, there are so many things expecting a new baby that nobody ever prepares you for ahead of time. Let’s be real, without resources like “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” and a few REALLY close and unfiltered friends, lots of us would be totally left clueless about things like mucus plugs, episiotomies and the struggles of breast feeding. Even after having my own very crazy childbirth experience, I still find myself continually learning things about pregnancy and childbirth. Things like “Who would have known a prenatal massage would give so much relief!” or “Who knew taking a newborn to a chiropractor could solve colic and reflux!”

Another of the numerous mysteries for expecting mamas seems to be how to find and when to contact and book a newborn photographer. Sure, you see some pretty darn amazing images of your friends newborns all over Instagram and Facebook, and you know you want beautiful portraits just like that of your very own new little one. You’ve likely even heard just how important it is to have newborn photographed in the first couple of days or weeks of your new baby’s life. But, how could you ever know when to set this date up when your baby may arrive early or even a few weeks late?

I am here to set this mysterious question straight for you! Certainly, the last thing you’ll want when you are trying to get accustomed to life with a new baby is to be trying to contact a newborn photographer to get in her schedule with the next few days!

I’ve answered the three most repeated questions I hear as a newborn photographer in regards to booking a newborn session.

camp hill pa newborn baby photography

When Should I book a newborn photographer?

The absolute ideal time frame to book your Camp Hill Newborn Photographer is during your 2nd trimester. By this point you’ve made it past the the 1st trimester and into the “safety zone” with less elevated risk. Now, it’s time to really begin to prepare for your new baby’s arrival. I HIGHLY recommend reserving your photographer in your 2nd trimester so that it’s one less thing on your on your lengthy “to do” list while preparing to welcome a new baby! Of course you can absolutely wait and try to book later during the 3rd trimester. However, there is a greater risk that the photographer you really want may be completely booked and not able to accommodate you. I personally will always try to take a last minute booking whenever possible. However, at times it can be tough to squeeze someone in around the already booked sessions.

camp hill newborn photographer karissa zimmer photography captures image of baby girl in red

How do you schedule a newborn session when you can’t be sure what day the baby will be born?

I can not be sure how every newborn photographer works, but I know most of us have an almost identical process when it comes to scheduling our newborn clients. When you reserve your session with me during your in person consultation, I will add your due date in my schedule. This will give me a good idea for when I need to be available for your baby’s session. Though, we will not pick an actual date for your photo session until you reach out to me to let me know that your baby has made her grand appearance! Once your baby has made her entrance into the world, we’ll set up your newborn session within the first 10 days of life. I am pretty acquainted with the unpredictable nature of newborns entering the world on their own timing. So, there is no reason to worry if your baby comes early or late!

Please keep in mind that I book a very limited number of newborn sessions each month! I want to make sure I can always accommodate both early and late arrivals for my tiny clients!

parents pose with their newborn baby at their newborn session

Why do you have to schedule newborn sessions when babies are so young?

Each photographer has their own favorite “perfect” for the age they prefer to photograph a newborn. Many photographers will not agree to book a newborn session after a this time frame has passed. There are several reasons for why this window of time for newborn photos exists.

    • 1st, the newer your baby is, the sleepier he is. And sleepier newborns are more likely to cooperate when getting them into the snuggly little poses you see in my newborn gallery.
    • Also, the longer the baby spends outside of the womb, the more time their sensory nerves have to develop. This means that older newborns are more responsive to touch and likely to wake up from the slightest of pose adjustments.
    • Last, the longer a baby is out of womb, the less “snuggled” they get. Most newborn clients love the poses that capture their baby all curled up and illustrate just how new they are. These poses can become less comfortable a for a baby as they grow and spend more time outside of the womb. Thus making them much harder to achieve.
Booking a newborn baby girl session with Karissa Zimmer Photography

The general “rule” for the best time to have a posed newborn session is no later that 14 days old.

I hope these short tips help you feel a little more prepared to book your newborn photo session! There will be so many things to stress and prepare for as you are waiting to welcome a new little life into the world! Making sure you have the perfect photographer reserved to capture your memories while keeping your baby safe shouldn’t be one of them!

I am always excited to answer any questions or concerns you may have about my newborn portrait process. You can find many answers in the F.A.Q. section of my Newborn Page, but please feel free to send me a message!

Questions You Should Ask Your Newborn Photographer

If you’re a first-time parent, you may not even know where to begin looking for a newborn photographer—or what qualities you should look for in the person who’s going to take adorable photos of your new baby. Choosing a newborn photographer is different from choosing any other kind of photographer because there are more things you have to take into consideration. After all, you want great photos, but you also want your baby to be posed safely.

That’s why I’ve put together this list of questions you should ask any potential newborn photographer before you book your session!

How many newborn sessions have you done?
Experience is something you want in any type of photographer, but it’s especially important in a newborn photographer. Newborns require careful handling and expert posing, so you likely don’t want to hire a photographer who is just starting out but one who has multiple years of experience under their belt.

    Do you have safety training?
There are many courses available for photographers to learn how to safely pose and handle newborns, so there is no excuse for a photographer to have skipped out on such a seminar or workshop. Make sure that your photographer has been trained and has the certification to prove it before booking a session.

    What is your sanitization process?
Newborns have brand-new immune systems that can easily be compromised, so sanitation of the studio space, props and accessories is key. Especially with COVID-19, it’s important that your photographer takes the proper time to thoroughly sanitize in between sessions.

Can you help me prepare for my session?
The best photographers work with their clients every step of the way, not just during the photo session. If you have any questions about what to expect or how to prepare, your photographer should be able and willing to answer them before you set foot in their studio.

Will you help pose the rest of my family?
If you’re planning on being in some of the photos (which I highly recommend!), make sure your photographer can help you out with posing. You’ll likely need professional expertise to find poses that feel and look natural.

What do I need to bring to my session?
Some photographers provide props, while others ask that you bring your own. Talk to your photographer about what items you need to bring along to your session in addition to diapers, formula, and all the other items your baby will need throughout your shooting time.

How long will the session be?
Newborn sessions often take several hours, so be prepared to stop for diaper changes and feedings. The time will vary from photographer to photographer, so be sure to ask how long you can expect to be in the studio so you can properly prepare.

What is included in the session fee?
Before you book your session, you should know exactly what you’re getting and what items will cost extra. For example, my session fee covers my time and expertise, while images and products are an additional cost. It’s important to be aware of what you’re getting before you sign a contract.

Every photographer operates their business differently, so be sure to ask these questions and any others you may have before you arrive in the studio for your session. The most important thing is that your baby is safe and that you get images you will cherish for years to come!

Why Newborn Photography is Worth the Investment

Are you an expecting mommy to-be searching for a Newborn Photographer in Harrisburg PA?

There are lots and lots of variables when it comes to choosing a photographer, just as there are in any other service. I was reminded of this when I asked a contractor, “How much would it cost to build a deck on my house?” He very intelligently responded, “How much would it cost to buy a car?” So, just as there are a vast range of price points for vehicles and home renovations, you will likely find newborn baby photographers in Harrisburg PA from $500 to $10,000 and everywhere in between!

When you purchase a vehicle for your family, you want to be certain of a few key factors. Will this model of car keep my family safe? How long will it last and hold up over time? Will the dealership take care of me and my needs through the lifetime of my car ownership? When the time comes that your family needs a new set of wheels, you’ll without a doubt want to do your research before you make an investment in something so important. Likewise, when it’s time to find a newborn photographer, you’ll want to be able to check off some very important boxes with confidence. Remember, in most investment cases, you get what you pay for, and newborn photography should be no different.

So, what should you look for from a newborn photographer? I’ve put together a few of the most important things you will want to consider when choosing a professional to capture images of your newborn.

    Newborn Safety
The most important thing to consider when choosing a photographer for your newborn session is whether they are certified to pose your baby safely. Knowing how to pose a newborn requires an understanding of which poses are safe and which are not, as well as how to avoid restricting the baby’s airway. When considering a photographer, ask them if they have invested in the necessary training and education to make sure that they know how to handle your baby safely during every pose and photo. If not, you’ll want to find a photographer who has the experience and knowledge to keep your newborn safe throughout your photo session.

    Props & Accessories
A good newborn photographer will have a professional studio fully stocked with a variety of props and accessories to use during your session. While it’s always a great idea to bring your own props, especially sentimental items, your photographer will have everything from baskets to blankets to wraps and more to create images that you will love!

    Full Service
When you hire a professional photographer, you are paying for their knowledge and expertise. They should walk you through what to expect from working with them, including how to prepare for your session, and be able to answer any questions you may have. On average, I spend about 40 hours with each client, starting with our initial consultation and ending with the delivery and installation of their products and wall art. Your photographer should take the time to ensure you’re happy with your experience and products.

    Professional Equipment
Anyone can purchase a camera and start taking photos, but a professional should have the high-quality equipment that ensures they get the images you want. This includes not just cameras and lenses, but lighting equipment, editing software and everything else they need to take and process your newborn photos. If your potential photographer doesn’t have professional equipment, you should find someone else who does.

    High-Quality Products
While digital images are wonderful to have, they won’t last forever. Technology is always changing, and so does the way you store images. Remember floppy disks? Good luck finding a way to read one of those these days! Portrait products, however, such as wall art and albums, will last for years and can even become family heirlooms. But all products are not created equal. There are low-cost, cheaply made products that aren’t meant to last forever and certainly won’t. Professional photographers, however, tend to use the highest level of archival grade art to ensure that your memories will endure for generations. When you book a professional newborn session, you’re investing in memories that you want to last forever.

    Trustworthiness
Just as important as every item on this list is how you feel about your photographer. Do you like and trust them? If possible, it’s a good idea to meet your photographer prior to your session to make sure that you feel comfortable handing your precious newborn to them and trusting them to capture your memories. Ask if your photographer does consultations because a consultation is the perfect way to make sure a photographer is the right fit for you and your family. It’s also a great time to ask questions and ensure that they have the knowledge and experience necessary to safely create newborn images you’ll cherish for years to come!

STUDIO REOPENING AND CLEANING POLICIES | CAMP HILL NEWBORN BABY & FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

How I’m Keeping Your Family Safe For Your Studio Portrait Session

I AM SO EXCITED TO BE BACK! Yes! This means that I am able schedule studio and outdoor portrait sessions again! With a few added studio reopening and cleaning policies, I am ready to be doing what I love again! As a Camp Hill Newborn Baby & Family Photographer, it has always been a priority to take extraordinary safety precautions to protect my clients during their portrait sessions. From safely posing your newborn to extensive cleaning practices for my studio. I pride myself in maintaining the highest level of safety in my industry.

Newborn and family photographer in camp hill pa is scehduling photography sessions with new studio reopening and cleaning policies in 17011, 17050, 17050

Health and safety has certainly been a concern over these past few months due to COVID-19. Because I am a newborn photographer, studio hygiene and cleaning policies have ALWAYS been a top priority at Karissa Zimmer Photography. I know we are in a time where clients and families want to know a little bit more about what that entails. Especially because I interact and work with the tinyest members of your family, here are some ways that I work to protect them and your entire family.

Safety and Cleaning Policies I have always used

    1. I thoroughly clean before and after each client that comes into the studio. Each consultation, portrait session and ordering appointment. This includes cleaning floors, sanitizing all hard surfaces, cleaning the restroom, wiping door knobs, switches and appliances.
    2. All fabrics and props are washed after each newborn session. Beyond washing fabrics that just baby comes in contact with. I frequently wash/clean other surfaces such as pillows and cushions.
    3. HAND WASHING. I very frequently wash my hands during a newborn session. Not only does it help warm up my cold hands before I touch baby, but soap and water is the most effective way to kill germs on skin. I’ve always looked at my tiny clients as these perfect, new creatures that I want to protect from any possible germs and illness.
    4. It has always been a priority to me to give my clients my undivided attention. Rest assured that when you are working with me, I will be the only person in the studio with your family.
    5. Again, because being fully present with each client is important to me, I have only ever booked one client in the studio per day. This also gives me time to do a full cleaning before I welcome my next client in.
    6. Sick Policy: I will absolutely never work or meet with a client while I am sick. Even if just a case of the sniffles. I ask that you do the same. If your baby or someone in your family is sick or has a fever, I ask that you reschedule. I ask that clients please contact me if any member of the family is exhibiting cold or flu symptoms within 72 hours of your appointment.

Enhanced safety and cleaning procedures implemented in Studio Reopening and Cleaning Policies

In acknowledgment of the current health crisis, I am going above and beyond to assure the utmost in saftey for my clients. In addition to all of the standard safety and cleaning procedures listed above, I will now also implement the following enhanced procedures and policies for all portrait sessions:

    1. Clients will be asked to wash hands upon entering.
    2. Photographer will wear a face mask during all newborn sessions.
    3. I will kindly ask that you remove shoes upon entering.
    4. All props will be provided by me in the studio. No outside props, please.
    5. Only immediate family members and persons being photographed are permitted to attend.
    6. Camera and lighting gear will be disinfected prior to the session.
    7. An ozone generator will be safely run in studio between each client to eliminate any airborne (microorganisms) bugs!

Thank you to all my wonderful clients for your support!
